MRSA Widespread in European Pigs – Threat Looms for the UK

The first Europe-wide testing of pig herds for MRSA has found that the bacteria is present in 17 of 24 member states tested. The highest level of MRSA positives found was 51% of Spanish breeding-pig herds, with the next highest levels being found in Germany, Belgium and Italy.
